Contractors engaged to repair Merlion

SINGAPORE : Contractors have been engaged to repair the Singapore Merlion after it was struck by lightning on Saturday.
For now, the public is not allowed access to the 36-year-old tourism icon at the mouth of the Singapore River.
Temporary barricades have been erected for safety reasons.
Despite this, tourists and locals are still eagerly snapping pictures from afar.
When Channel NewsAsia last visited the structure on Sunday, water was still flowing from the sculpture's mouth.
Debris from parts of the statue's head that fell off after lightning struck were cleared on Saturday night.
No one was injured.
The Singapore Tourism Board said it is waiting for a full assessment from contractors before deciding when to allow the public access to the statue, and whether to erect a lightning conductor to prevent a repeat incident. - CNA/ms

記得06年去SENTOSA時...有看到介紹魚尾獅的影片...
實際內容已經不太記得了...只知道有一隻獅子.......
然後然後跳到海裡....就變成了魚尾獅...成為新加坡的守護神XDD
因為.....因為..影片是講英文的...所以我也只能看影片猜故事

It's a history about MERLION.....
A.D, Prince Sang Nila Utama of the Sri Vijaya Empire rediscovered the island. When the Prince first landed on Singapore's shores. The Merlion has a lion head and a fish body resting on a crest of waves. The lion head symbolises the legend of the rediscovery of Singapura, as recorded in the "Malay Annals". In ancient times, Singapore was known as Temasek, a Javanese word for sea. In the 11th century.
Singapore was founded by a Malay Prince by the name of Sang Nila Utama. He wanted to find somewhere to build a new City and set out to have a look at some islands off the coast of Sumatra. While hunting deer on one of the islands, he saw a neighboring island that had beaches "like white cloth". He was told that the island was called Temasek. He decided to go there, during the trip a bad storm blew and the ship toOK on Water and began to sink. They were forced to throw many things overboard. Still the ship took on Water. The Prince finally threw his heavy crown overboard and the storm passed. After making it safely to the island, he went inland to do some hunting and saw a strange creature with a red body, black head and white breast. It moved with great speed and grace.
